Maxine Fortenberry where do I even start? She’s one nasty lady. In the first season she came of as your typical hypocritical bible thumper, always nosin into other people’s business and bossin Hoyt around. Season 2 she is still nosey, still tacky and still a bitch. But then when she falls under Maryanne’s spell, she gets a bit more interesting and fun. Maxine is still a major cunt but I couldn’t help but love to hate her.
When I was first talking about this blog and coming up with looks for characters, I told my friend Ana that I wanted to do a look for Hoyt’s mama but I didn’t have any nail polish called Bigot Bitch. She suggested I make one.
So I decided to and I knew the two colors I wanted to use. Orly’s Green with Envy and Hard Candy’s Frenzy. Frenzy is also the name of one of the episodes. I wasn’t able to locate my Green with Envy. I was not happy. But last night while cleaning my house I found it stuck under the couch so I went to work on mixing. I can’t tell the exact recipe. I just tinkered with it…adding a little at a time. After I got a nice color, I decided that I needed a little sparkle.
You can’t be Bon Temps’ biggest bitch without a little sparkle. (Which Maxine is Bon Temps biggest bitch in a bad way unlike LaFayette who is the biggest bitch in a good way.) So I mixed in a little of China Glaze Mer-Made in the Shade. It’s a sheer blue-green with sparkle. And I’m loving it.

Queen of Louisiana

I decided that the Queen of Louisiana needed her own nail.
I wanted to keep it simple, sophisticated but with a bit of grandeur. Sophie Anne doesn’t seem the type to get flashy with her nails, I chose a dark purple-blue, China Glaze VIII. It’s a nice creme and the color fitted for royalty. To make it a little more Sophie Anne, I added a nail decal in the shape of the crown on the middle finger.

I mentioned earlier I was going to have to make Lorena her own page, I haven’t gotten around to it but I do have another look for her. It was inspired by the flashback Bill has about being turned vampire. When Bill wakes up after being drained by Lorena, she has undressed down to her undergarments. Which back in those days consisted of petticoats and a corset.

I decided to alter a corset look I saw in a tutorial on youtube a few months back.
I used China Glaze Channelesque, China Glaze Camisole and OPI Get me to the Taj on time.

I painted the nail with a coat of Camisole, then two coats of OPI. After those dried it had a nice satiny nude shade. Then I made the lace up ribbon with a nail dotter and Channelesque.

Lorena

Lorena has been a character that I can’t quite hate or love but I find her fascinating. I will be making a section for her soon because she’s so memorable in her scenes I have looks just poppin in my head for her.
The first look I was inspired by was from when she first shows up in dallas and is lying on her hotel bed.

I used 2 heavy coats of Orly Happily Ever After. Then used China Glaze Passion with my konad stamper to give an accent on the tips. Sadly I accidently deleted the shot of the whole hand.

Can I kick him?

This look was inspired by an outfit I’ve seen Pam wear on True Blood. A gorgeous navy dress Pam wears when they are releasing LaFayette to Sookie, and you know LaFayette gets mouthy and Pam asks if she can kick him. She looks stunning. Navy is such a good color for her.

So I decided to do a simple but classy look. I used China Glaze Up all Night which is a dark, midnight blue. I thought it matched the dress well and plus the name was quite suiting since that’s sort of what vampires do. Then accented with Orly Country Club Khaki. It’s such a chic, neutral color. The colors are quite complimentary to one another and also the look would match that great khaki safari dress Pam wears when burying Bill and Jessica.

I painted the nail with two coats of Up all Night and then when it dried I put tape on my nail, covering most of it up but the bottom fourth of the nail. You have to make sure your nails are completely dry or else the tape will peel off the polish. Then I brushed on the Country Club Khaki and let it sit a minute. There’s less likelihood of a mess if you wait til the polish is a bit tacky. I didn’t get my tape on quite straight but it’s ok.

Ok, so I’m a big fan of 80′s teen movies and Pretty In Pink is one of my all time favorites. So while watching, I decided it would be fun to do looks for the movie just like with my True Blood inspired looks.

This one is simple. I used 2 coats of Orly Polo Princess which is a bubble gum pink. It reminds me of all the pastel outfits going on in the movie. Then to make it a little sparkly and stand out I added a layer of China Glaze White Kwik Silver.

Bored last night I decided to fool around with my polish and came across a rather nice surprise. China Glaze Metallic Muse has been a polish I found interesting and had to have it, but have yet been able to tap into it. The other day I went in to Sally’s for dry shampoo spray and had to have Finger Paints Decked with Dazzle because it was literally calling to me as I walked to the cash register. I painted my nail with MM and then layered 2 coats of DWD and wow. It has such a nice purpley glow and you can still see some of the shiny teal below. It reminds me of one of those 70′s posters with a unicorn on. The unicorn is always surrounded by this purpley cloud with twinkling stars.
I love it!!!!!!!
